Rumbling and Stumbling

So it's been a week since my last post, and a pretty slow one at that modelling wise.

HOWEVER... [insert dramatic music]

I managed to find a few hours yesterday to knock up an entry for the latest painting comp over on astro' "The Return of Rumble or Stumble" It was some of my fastest painting ever, as I entered on the closing date itself, but it was fun and I'm fairly happy with my entry, and believe it or not, this is the first painting competition I've ever entered (with the exception of a games day banner comp I entered when I was 14 in which I came 6th)

I'm not really in it for the winning (my vote went to the Big Mekk), I know my limits painting wise, but I did it more for the motivation. And now I know how quickly I can turn out a biker I may finish the rest of them when I get a minute.

Anyway... here's a selection of pics of the fella all based and ready for action.

The Teeth of Khorne

I was having a wander round the web... killing warp spiders and the like. When I heard mention of a long lost band of Khornate warriors known as "Teeth of Khorne". I HAD to investigate, and low and behold a few clicks later I found myself reading the World Eater army list entry for devastator squads, found in ye olde rulebook: Realms of Chaos - Slaves to Darkness

2 per army, armed with Heavy Bolters and Missile Launchers:

Fluff wise this revelation bodes well for the Iron Helms. Especially the description "As the teeth of the World Eaters, Devastator Squads rarely limit themselves to tactical support. They are often found in the thick of any fight, taking blood with as much abandon as their comrades in arms"

This coupled with this note on the Iron Warriors (found on the Lexicanum website) "They are also fierce close range fighters when they must come to grips with the enemy, witnesses comparing their ferocity to the berserkers of the World Eaters traitor legion or the loyalist Blood Angels.", makes for an interesting chunk of back story for me to build upon

HOWEVER! being fairly stuck in my bloodthirsty ways, and a firm believer of "If you can't use it in close combat then it's not a real weapon..." I am rather short on Missile Launchers. In fact I only have one, here he is blowing something up:

I do however have a fair few Heavy Bolters. So watch this space...

Iron Helms of Khorne

With use of the absolutely brilliant Chaos Space Marine painter made by those clever chaps over at The Bolter and Chainsword (the painter itself I shall add to the warp (links) section of this blog in tribute to its sheer awesomeness), I've made a rather GW looking mock up of a typical Iron Helm of Khorne for all to enjoy (with hazard stripes added via some photoshop jiggery-pokery, which I'm sure you can do the same if you really need to)

note: there is a "loyalist" marine painter available too for all you non believers out there, but as I refuse to tarnish my homepage with such filth I shall post the link for it HERE instead

Operation landraider continues...

Had a minute so I thought I'd pass it by knocking up another quick sketch of the Davidicus Pattern landraider (working title)

Operation Landraider

So here we have the beginnings of what I hope will be a solution to the age old problem of "how do you fit a dozer blade on a landraider without rendering the front assault hatch unusable?"

The blade will be split into three parts, one by each track front, and a central blade attached to the top of the hatch that will rise independent of the other two blades allowing for lots of chainaxe based loveliness to ensue

All will of course have a liberal coating of hazard stripes when finished. As it was written in the book of Perturabo: "and ye shall cover everything in the sacred colours of black and yellow, paying special attention to article 12 sub section B of the Iron Warriors health and safety code, as decreed by the Iron Priests of Old, with a written record of all hazardous materials to be filed and  presented in triplicate to the office of general maintenance and administration within 28 working days there to be stored for future review... amen "

And So It Begins

I've gone got ma'self a one of those bog-a-ma-thingys so I can share the good word of Chaos to all those who care to listen. (and for those who don't... *grabs the rubber mallet of khorne*

Here I shall send forth the legions of Khorne (and occasionally other less fortunate armies)  from my 28mm warpstorm.

So if you're all sitting comfortably, I'll begin...
